3rd Shift Fabricator

Des Moines, IA Full-Time Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced 3rd Shift Fabricator to prep, fit, cut, drill, and weld various structural steel assemblies in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint-reading skills, experience with structural steel fabrication, and a commitment to quality, safety, and productivity.

Safety & Compliance

Fabrication & Welding

Prep, fit, cut, drill, and weld structural steel components according to specificationsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work ordersOperate fabrication equipment including saws, torches, grinders, drills, and welding equipmentPerform MIG, Flux-Core, Stick, and other welding processes as requiredCut, bend, shape, and assemble steel componentsMeasure and fabricate steel frames, beams, columns, girders, and related assembliesInspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards

Production & Quality

Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standardsFocus on reducing material waste and improving productivityInspect materials and finished products for defectsMaintain accurate measurements and ensure proper fit-up of assembliesParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives

Equipment & Maintenance

Inspect and maintain fabrication tools and equipmentReport equipment issues or safety concerns promptlyMaintain inventory of materials and supplies as needed

Teamwork & Communication

Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkersDemonstrate reliability through strong attendance and punctualitySupport a positive and productive workplace cultureAssist with training and mentoring team members when appropriate

Required Skills & Knowledge

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawingsKnowledge of structural steel fabrication processesExperience operating cutting torches, welding machines, grinders, drills, and other fabrication equipmentStrong understanding of welding symbols, measurements, and quality standardsAbility to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers

Schedule

Full-Time, 3rd ShiftOvertime may be required based on production demands

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate degree or completion of a 2-year trade school program preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of fabrication and welding experience required
  • Structural steel fabrication experience preferred
  • AWS welding certifications are a plus
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders
  • Ability to work safely at heights when required
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours as needed
