Position Summary
We are seeking a 3rd Shift Steel Shop Fabricator to assist with steel fabrication and production activities while supporting quality, safety, and operational goals. The shop is located about 5 minutes from Southridge Mall in Des Moines.
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Production
- Perform general steel fabrication and production tasks.
- Read and interpret work instructions or drawings as needed.
- Operate fabrication equipment and tools safely.
- Inspect materials and completed work to help ensure quality standards are met.
- Assist with material handling and production workflow.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members.
- Support continuous improvement and a positive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience operating fabrication and welding equipment.
- Ability to read basic blueprints or work instructions.
- Ability to safely use common shop tools and equipment.
- Trade school education or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous fabrication, welding, or manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb, bend, and work in varying weather conditions.
