Summary
A premier provider of high-quality windows for homes and businesses is seeking Production Laborers for its Glass — Edgework Department in Des Moines. This position involves fabricating and producing top-quality glass products using hand tools and specialized industrial machinery. Typical schedule is approximately Monday–Friday, starting at 6am until daily production is completed (typically 3:00–4:00pm).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the assembly and production of glass products to established specifications
- Operate and maintain machinery and equipment in adherence to safety protocols
- Handle glass with precision, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout production
- Perform meticulous quality checks to identify defects or imperfections
- Collaborate with the production team to achieve daily and weekly targets
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to all policies and safety guidelines
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong ability to accurately read a tape measure and complete basic numerical calculations
- Organized with an eye for detail
- Operate small hand tools, chop saw, punch press, overhead crane, etc.
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Able to read English and do basic math
- Works well on a team
Preferred & Education
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment (preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 90 lbs
- Stand or walk up to 12 hours a day
- Frequent walking, reaching, and bilateral hand coordination
- Wear all required PPE
