We are looking for a dependable Maintenance Technician to join a food manufacturing team in the Des Moines area. This role keeps production equipment and facility systems running safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety standards.
This role requires at least 6 months of hands-on industrial maintenance experience — the more experience you bring, the better, especially with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Electrical experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with a background in HVAC, electrical work, technical school training, or hands-on repair experience in a manufacturing or food processing setting will do well here. Pay is negotiable based on experience.
Expect to be on your feet for most of a 2nd shift, working in cold conditions (34°F–60°F) and occasionally in freezer conditions (below 32°F), lifting up to 75 lbs, and getting into confined spaces to diagnose and fix equipment. It's hands-on, sometimes physically demanding work.

Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on food manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to extend equipment life and reduce breakdowns.
- Use hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers) and power tools (drills, grinders) to complete repairs.
- Use diagnostic tools to assess machinery performance and troubleshoot problems.
- Respond to emergency repair calls while also completing scheduled maintenance work.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols when servicing equipment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices around hazardous materials and heavy machinery.
- Work in confined spaces and lift heavy objects as needed to complete repairs.
- Communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments about equipment issues and repair status.
- Report issues clearly and follow up on repairs and maintenance activities.
- Follow GMP, HACCP, food safety, and OSHA regulations while working on production equipment.
- Prioritize and manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 6 months of hands-on industrial maintenance experience required; more experience is a plus.
- Electrical experience strongly preferred.
- Lockout/tagout (LOTO) experience strongly preferred; must be willing to follow LOTO procedures on the job.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, kneel, crawl, or reach overhead.
- Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
- Able to work in cold conditions (34°F–60°F) and occasionally in freezer conditions (below 32°F).
- Able to work in damp/wet conditions and moderate noise levels.
