Responsibilities & Duties
Develop and implement IEPs and behavioral intervention plans per assessment and ARD Committee recommendationsCollaborate with colleagues to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methodsWork closely with related-service personnel, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers to ensure services and modifications are implementedPrepare classroom materials and lesson plans using research-based instructional practicesObserve, evaluate, remediate, and extend students’ academic performance, behavior, and social developmentModify and adapt curriculum and resources to meet varied learning styles and needsInstruct students individually, in small groups, and as a whole classMonitor students across educational environments to provide a safe, positive learning environmentMaintain effective classroom management and use data to tailor lessonsCommunicate with parents and guardians about student progressAdminister standardized assessments and implement Response to Intervention Tiers 1, 2, and 3Participate in meetings and professional development to improve student achievement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate required
- Texas ESL certification required
- Valid Special Education teaching certificate required
- Demonstrated competency in the assigned core academic subject area
- Operates in a school environment using standard office equipment. The role is active — standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and similar movement throughout the day — and requires frequently lifting and moving items over 20 pounds.
